I bought a 2011 Nissan Altima and at 127,000 miles the transmission is slipping and when it warms up the car will not go over 50 mph. Transmission will not shift. Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima 13
I had picked up a nail in my tire on my way home that I didn't know about which came out while I was on highway 94 (traveling at the posted speed limit of 65mph) which cause my vehicle to veer to on coming traffic so. I try to correct it and the my vehicle wasn't responding like it should have because of the transmission started slipping and wouldn't power out of the pull from the deflated tire so I had to over correct which caused me to lose control of the vehicle sending my into a revean and then over a 5 wire fence subsequently damaging my vehicle more than I would've had the transmission been operating properly I had less than 100,000 miles on the vehicle well under the recommended service interval not to mention that I received a citation for careless driving because I was unable to control my vehicle.

Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2016 Nissan Altima 15
Cvt transmission slipping, delayed changing of gears, no response of gas pedal. My Altima rolls into traffic with me pressing the gas there is a 3-5 second delay before taking off. Very dangerous. No one was able to recreate the problem but now it won't shift. It revs high and will not transfer to wheels.
Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2016 Nissan Altima 16
My vehicle's cvt transmission failed at 97,000 miles. I experienced the same symptoms everyone else has experienced with this transmission - vibrations, wildly fluctuating rpms and frequent downshifts. Within a matter of a few days the transmission started slipping. I feel lucky I wasn't killed when my vehicle's transmission slipped while I was attempting to cross traffic. After my local Nissan dealer quoted me a price of $4,087 for a transmission replacement, I called Nissan customer care and requested they cover the replacement cost of the cvt but they refused. No three-year-old, normally-driven vehicle under 100,000 miles should ever have its transmission fail. The Nissan cvt problem is a national travesty. I was a Nissan customer for life but will never purchase nor endorse their vehicles ever again.
Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima 17
On the way home as I exited highway my 2013 Altima 79000 miles started jerking upon slowing down to stop, on the move as well as when fully stopped. Next day I took it to the dealer ken ganley medina ohio, the car showed even more symptoms and totally stalled right in front of service door and wouldn't start. Similar problem happened in January 2016 at 59900 and then the same dealership service reset transmission module. The car was driving normal until now. Only this time I paid $177 for diagnostics just to hear what I already suspected: internal transmission failure. Cost of replacement $3995 plus tax. On the way home, my car completely died and had to be towed home. From 2012 to 2018, several modoels of Nissan vehicles received the continuously variable transmission, including the sentra, versa, versa note, Altima, rogue, and murano models. Some of the most common issues with the vehicles directly relate to the transmission. Reported issues include loss of power, transmission jerking, transmission slipping, cvt coolant hose leaks and failures, and a cvt error message being displayed. These problems call the Nissan cvt transmission reliability into question and can result in serious harm to unsuspecting drivers. Nissan extended the warranty on some of these vehicles equipped with the cvt transmission from 5 years or 60,000 miles to 10 years or 120,000 miles. The extension covers repairs, replacements, and towing for issues related to the continuously variable transmission. For the warranty to be effective, vehicle owners must take their Nissan to a dealership for repairs. Strangely enough, my VIN doesn't fall (?) under that category even it showed exact same failure. The dealer refused to follow that warranty in terms of replacement and/or providing a loaner car.
Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2017 Nissan Altima 18
Transmission started to slip in early 2019. Went to dealership immediately to be informed that the cvt transmission needed to be replaced. Dealership quoted us $5600 for the repair of a rebuilt. We looked at the error code and saw that all other years and models had already been recalled due to the exact same error. Nissan told us they would give us 'assistance' at 60%, which still was over $1600 expense, for a car just 2 years old. The car was at the dealership for 3 weeks. When I picked up the vehicle, the check engine light came on again. Took it right back. Nissan informed me it was a faulty oxygen sensor. Cost another $800. We will never buy another Nissan again.
Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2016 Nissan Altima 19
On Wednesday 1/30/2019 my daughter was driving north on I-17 entering flagstaff when the transmission stopped working. The engine was reving to about 6000 rpm but the car would only go about 5 mph. She managed to get the car to a parking lot and call me for help. After about 30 minutes the transmission cooled down and worked normally. I had her take the car to a local shop and have it checked out. They got a code p0776. They contacted Nissan and found the car to be under an extended warranty that I purchased until 100,000 miles. My daughter drove home the next day and we took it into pinnacle Nissan where I purchased the car. They could not get the code to come up so are unable to fix the transmission. This is about the tenth time that the transmission has slipped, this being the most severe. Pinnacle Nissan and Nissan USA are telling me to continue to drive the vehicle until the warning light comes on, then bring the vehicle in for a transmission replacement. I told them both that the warning light has never come on when the transmission slips, so could there be a problem with the cars computer also which is why they can not get a code to come up? they said no, that is not happening?.

Last year cvt was slipping, delayed acceleration when at a stop light then trying to drive, they updated software. Same thing happened out of nowhere the other day. No prior transmission issues and the car had delayed acceleration twice when I stopped at lights, then minutes later I turn onto a busy street and the cvt transmission slipped, causing my car to rev up to 4rpm but barely go 20 mph. Being told by Nissan the entire transmission needs to be replaced. Only has 82000 miles. No prior transmission issues.

The problem with the 2013 Nissan alima cvt 2. 5 model. The car stops when ideling which creates a dangerous situation on the road. The rpm will fluctuate without warning and gears slipping at road speeds. Similar cases have been discussed in various forum and Nissan is not willing to take this as there responsibilty of creating an inferior quality product. It is time Nissan owns up to it.

Was driving my 2013 Altima sl and without any warning the transmission started slipping, stopped vehicle, and everytime I attempted to put car in drive or reverse, the motor died, and I restarted the motor due to the bitter cold weather conditions, called Nissan north America talked to colleen agent # 731913 with my concerns on 12/29/2017, after hanging up with colleen and continuing to try to get the vehicle to, called Nissan north America again and spoke to erik case # 29343050, who adviced me to call Nissan the next day 01/01/2018. I called and it was a holiday and not opened. , finally got the vehicle in drive and attempted to drive it home with transmission slipping and motor dying in heavy bumper to bumper holiday traffic. On 01/02/2018 contacted Nissan north America, was advised to take vehicle to nearest Nissan dealership, and they would pay $100. 00 towards the record bill. I paid this wrecker bill out of my pocket with receipts. The vehicle was delivered to walter's Nissan 30 walter's lane pikeville, ky. 41501 on 01/03/2018 were it was evaulated and determined to be complete cvt transmission failure, and would be replaced. I have the Nissan security plus gold preferred vehicle service contract 60 months/75,000 miles, service contract # 0 7236319. This car has 68,000 miles on it, and the contract expired on 01/04/2018. It was in the dealership on 01/03/2018 and determine with the cvt transmission failure. I called walter's Nissan on 01/05/218 and was told they had ordered a new cvt transmission under warranty. Today I was advised by walter's Nissan dealership they was in a dispute with Nissan America regional specialist, due to the warranty expiring on 01/04/2018, today 01/08/2018 and would not honor the warranty or a request for a rental car. The cvt transmission has had many failures similiar to mine, yet Nissan America still markets this vehicle.

1) when accelerating from s stop, my car will jerk (like the transmission is slipping). It will often jerk while my car is in motion as well. This happens on city streets & freeways/highways. 2) there is also an issue with the 'hood latch' not locking completely. It sometimes looks like the hood is going to pop open when driving .
Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Nissan Altima 31
The cvt transmission started shifting hard a few months ago. Then about a month ago the transmission started slipping. I exited the freeway and came to a light. Turned left and was in the middle of the intersection when the car would not go. I was nervious and pushed then pumped the gas and the car would not go. Then out of the blue it took off with out my foot on the gas. I had the transmission fluid changed. Then a few weeks latter I was driving 75 (speed limit) with cruise control on then the car started loosing power, 65,60 55. I accelerated the car and it just would not go faster. I was able to stop it with the cruise at 55. With flashers on could have been killed. Started my research and found that Nissan has extended the warranty by doubling it from 5 years/60,000 to 10 years/120,000 miles. My issue is my car is only 6 years old with 128,000 miles and Nissan has my car in their shop and will not fix it. I believe the cvt transmission needs to be recalled before someone get killed. I have very service record since the day I bought the car with 12 miles on it. The car has been well maintained.

Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima 33
When driving up a grade the engine rpm goes up to almost 4500 and the car slows down. Car does not accelerate on interstate consistently when merging into traffic. This makes the car dangerous because when losing acceleration I was nearly struck from behind. I had just taken the car to the dealership for the problem and they changed the transmission fluid 10000 miles before it was due. I was told that the fluid would degrade from the car sitting and ageing. If that is the case the fluid in the new cars on the lot is degrading while waiting to be sold. I researching problems for the 2009 Nissan Altima cvt transmission problems I am not alone with similar complaints and lack of dealership remedy to the problem. I talked to a Nissan factory trained tech. And ask him if this problem is why Nissan tightened up the transmissions starting in 2013 and he acknowledged that was the reason. Slippage is the only reason that the epa mpg estimates for 2013-2015 vehicles are 7 mpg greater than previous models. Nissans answer to the problem is to extend the warranty on the transmission from 60000 miles to 120000 miles. That is fine and dandy, but that does not remove the danger of a rear end collision that can kill or severely injure families when the car does not consistently accelerate when the driver has a reasonable expectation it will. The car has also failed to maintain a steady speed when the transmission starts slipping. Please help with a recall before people get killed if that has not already happened.

Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima 34
While traveling at 65 mph on the highway, the rpms began jumping. It was acting like the transmission was slipping. Then after stopping, the transmission took several seconds to go into gear. A short time later, the car would not accelerate over 60mph. Took to the dealer and they said the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The car had under 20,000 miles on it. I have read that this is a very common problem with Nissan cvt transmissions and some owners have had their transmissions replaced 5 times.
Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima 35
I purchased a 2013 Nissan Altima in September of 2015 with less than 43,000 miles. The car was really good gas and I was really happy with the purchase. In February of 2016 while me and my husband was driving in traffic we came to a stop and the car shut off. We started the car up fine but as soon as we placed the car in drive it shut off again. We repeated these steps over and over again until he was able to keep the car running while in drive so we could pull on the side of the road. We were very close to the warranty expiring so we took the car to antioch, CA Nissan dealership. They said that they would have to 'duplicate' the problem before moving forward. They kept our car for 3 days to no avail. They said that they could not 'duplicate' the problem and to come pick up the car. 2 days later we started experiencing the same problem. We decided to take the car to a different Nissan dealership in concord, CA hoping that we would get a different outcome. Needless to say they couldn't 'duplicate' the problem for 2 weeks!! the guy in services admitted that they have many cars coming in with the same exact problem and he knew how to get the car to act up so that they could move forward. How crazy is that??? he called me 2 weeks later and told me that they had to 'reset' the transmission system. He also told me that even though I was very close to my warranty expiring that if the problem occurs again that they would still honor the warranty because the problem pre-existed. Not even a whole 2 months passed when my husband and I were moving from California to texas did my car started having the exact same problems it had before but this time I noticed that the transmission was slipping. I was going 80 miles per hour on the freeway when my car slowed all the way down to 40 miles per hour while driving in front and on the side of a big rig!!!!.

I bought a 2011 Nissan Altima and at 127,000 miles the transmission is slipping and when it warms up the car will not go over 50 mph. Transmission will not shift. There should be a recall for these transmission from everything I'm finding out about them now. At this point with what this is costing I won't by another Nissan when they don't believe there's an issue with these transmission.

Transmission started slipping, lurching, going in and out of gear for several months and now is almost non drivable. Dealership says it is out of warranty and it will cost $3,500 to fix.

While driving on highway the car slowed to approx. 40 mph, while rpm's remained high. This is the third time it happened. Seems like transmission is slipping. Pull over shut vehicle off and problem goes away. No check engine light or anything. Had it to shop each time and dealer unable to duplicate. This will be third time in shop for same issue.
